Our Planes

Our fleet of RC planes

Super Frontier-40
Status: Grounded
Wing span: 163 cm
Weight: 2,5 kg
Engine: OS LA 40
Channels: 4

Super Frontier-40 from World Models was the first plane. Bought as a birthday present for Håkon together with a four-channel radio. It was powered by a OS LA 40. Not much power, but we had a long runway and it flew fast enough for beginners.

The nose gear strut was far too soft and got bent on several landings and was also quite wobbling on taxiing. After replacing it with a strut from Great Planes it got much better. The wheels was also replaced as they turned out to be too small on our club's grass field.

The aircraft was put in the hangar when the wing was stolen. It has since been recovered, but as it spent some weeks outdoors before it was found (also during rain showers) the servo needs to be replaced.

T-34

T-34 from World Models was the second airplane. It was bought as our low-wing trainer. Håkon was ready to move on from the Super Frontier-40, and I was anxious to take over and learn to fly on it.

We had a lot of problems getting the OS FX46 to run well, and the engine often failed in the air. We didn't have a clue what was causing it, but during the winter we took the engine and fuel tank out. In the fuel line inside the tank there was a hole. After replacing it the plane flew great in the spring and through the summer. In the autumn the engine failed. So the plane is currently grounded pending an engine repair.

Slinger

This one was fast to assemble and fun to fly. This was my first attempt with an electric plane. It flies nice but can have a tendency to snap in a sharp turn. I have had to pick it up outside the runway a couple of times, but it is solid.

JU-87 Stuka

The plane is assembled and got its maiden flight on August 2nd. 2004. The plane got several flights during the autumn. It remains to put the cowling on, but I have had trouble getting a lead wire for the glow plug.

More detailing of the plane is also planned.

Rambler-45

New plane bought in September 2004. This plane will be a fun flier and also training with a tail wheel. Flying the JU-87 has showed that more training on a tail-dragger is needed. The plane will be equipped with a 7-channel receiver from Futaba and an OS 46 AX engine. It's maiden flight was on May 14th, 2005.

FW 190-A8

This will be my first attempt to build a kit. I chose a kit from Skyshark RC as I have read a lot of good things about them. They also sell complete sets with all the accessories. The kit looks incredibly nice, and I am looking forward to it.
